East Riding of Yorkshire Council is delighted to work alongside Generation Pro Cycling Events and local volunteers to deliver the one of the highlights of the 2024 civic summer events calendar.

The night should see thousands of spectators coming into Beverley on a summer's evening, celebrating cycle sport coming just one year since the Tour of Britain
​
The event with be a key round of both the Open and Women's British Cycling National Circuit Series, and as such will showcase the best cycling talent, regionally, nationally and maybe some of our domestic international stars.

The event is run entirely by volunteers from Beverley with the support of British Cycling Yorkshire and people from the surrounding area.

Parking is within within allocated spaces, displaying your race permit as provided to your dashboard will help the steward transfer you through a barrier system.
​
There are no changing facilities within the headquarters, and only limited toilet facilities. The town has a number of public conveniences to use.
​
Please note also, the HQ to the Holding Area is around 500m so please give yourself plenty of time to transit to the circuit.
Team Parking
We are inviting teams to park their infrastructure within the road closure on Railway St, and Lord Roberts Road. The entry to the area can be found here> : https://w3w.co/users.charities.grazes

Please display the 'Team Parking' permits to allow the Traffic Management contractors to provide you access, or else you may be sent back on to the road network
Please arrange your infrastructure appreciating other teams, the safety of the general public and please respect the instructions of the organising team.
Race Regulations & Selection criteria
The race with be held under the Technical and National Circuit Series Regulations of British Cycling, and the specific regulations set out in the current Handbook which are also published on the British Cycling website : British Cycling Rules & Constitution

Gear Checking
If you are a Youth License holder, you are required to undertake a gear check BEFORE you sign in. You will be given a gear check sticker that is to be presented to the signing in team
​
Maximum gear measurements are as follows
Youth A: 6.93m
Youth B: 6.45m
Youth C: 6.05m
If your machine is found to be beyond these ranges, then your machine should be restricted sufficiently and brought back for reassessment.

Note: It is for the rider, or riders parents / team to restrict, NOT the volunteers
​
Gear checking will be conducted outside of the Head Quarters.
Signing on
All event staff, officials, media, team managers and riders are required to sign on. Riders must produce a valid in year British Cycling racing licence or UCI licence. Please ensure that the licence is signed and an up to date photo is displayed. Fines may be issued if licences are not in order or presented.

Please then sign the entry start sheet, at which point you will be provided with your race numbers. This will consist of 2 large numbers (to be positioned at the lower back / pocket area of your jersey/skin suit). This should not be folded, cut or damaged so they allow the judges the best chance of seeing the number.

A jersey will be positioned next to signing on to demonstrate its acceptable fitment.
If you want the photo finish to pick up your number please adhere to these instructions. Of course, if you’re not bothered about being placed, then you can ignore this!
You will also be given a timing chip. Please bring your own scissors/snips to cut the zip ties you will also receive. Your race license will not be returned until you return your timing chip, so be very careful with them. Alternatively there will be a £100 fee for non returned chips.
Signing in closes 60 minutes before your race begins. If you are late, then there may be a chance you have lost your place.
Warming up
There will be no warming up on the course, either immediately before your race, or during the non competitive aspects of the event
before the race
10 minutes before the race starts, you will be asked to gather in Lord Roberts Road https://w3w.co/tempting.eradicate.ends , and allowed access to the circuit following a briefing by the BC officials.
It is requested that you follow the instructions of all race officials, event organisers, and volunteer marshals. If, in the view of the officials and the organisers you fail to do this, you may be fined and or disqualified. In the circumstance that you endanger any Official or a Marshall, you may be disqualified on the start line, by name, in front of the viewing audience by the commentator using the public address, with no grounds to appeal at the event.

The circuit is undulating and technical. Please use sensible caution on the circuit.
A national escort group motorbike will lead the peloton for a neutralised lap and a half to the start line, where shortly before you will be asked to come to a stop. This won’t be long, and the start of the race will be once the commentators lead a count down.
The NEG motorbike will be removed prior to the race beginning. There will be a camera bike at the front of all races, as your race will be live streamed to YouTube - the link is on the HOME page
The circuit
Race timings
Your race will be held on the following basis

Under 12 5:00 pm (15 mins)

Women's National Circuit Series, National A 7:00 pm (50 mins)

Open National Circuit Series, National A 8:00 pm (50 mins)

There will be a lap board on the right hand side of the course on the finish line.
We will sound a bell to signify the start of the last lap.
Laps out & lapped riders
THERE ARE NO LAPS OUT in this event. Please make sure that your gears and wheels are adjusted or tightened properly. If you have a mechanical problem then you can receive service from the pits. This will be on the right hand side of the circuit and at the end of the finishing straight
​
In the event of rider(s) being lapped by the leading group, these lapped rider(s) will continue until three laps to go, where they will be withdrawn and placed, after sprinting for position on the line.
​
All riders when retiring from the race, whether individually or as a part of a group, must retire via the Pit Area and in no circumstances cross the finish line again, riders who insist on doing this will be penalised (unless instructed differently).
​
Lapped riders must not impede the progress of the lapping riders, nor must they manipulate the outcome of the race. Riders found to be deliberately flouting this regulation will be penalised. Riders that are lapped and do not heed to instructions from the Chief Commissaire or Commissaire Panel to withdraw, will be disqualified.
​
A rider(s) will be considered lapped when the leading rider(s) make the junction with the rear of the group that they are within.
​
Furthermore, In the final three laps of the race, if a rider /group of riders are likely to be caught by the race leader(s) they will be shown a BLUE FLAG by a race official to indicate that they are about to be lapped.
​
If shown a BLUE FLAG, riders must keep tight to the left hand side of the circuit to allow the safe and clear passage of the leading riders
​After the Race – attend the podium quickly if you are top 3
Once you have finished your race you must leave the circuit (Via the holding area) as soon as possible in order enable a smooth transition to the next event. The timetable of races is tight so we need you to exit the course as soon as your race has finished. Riders must continue on following the course and will be directed off the course and shown how to get back to the race HQ without using the course.
Under no circumstances should you do a U turn – other riders will still be completing the course! If you do turn in the road you will probably be disqualified from the event. You should return race numbers and collect your race licence at the HQ.

If you are 1st, 2nd or 3rd then you need to be available at the Podium for the prize presentation 5 minutes before the times above.
All series leaders and leading teams for series events will need to be present - All prizes (including any for podium places) will be posted to you after the event. There will be no “Prime” prizes

All placements will be final once confirmed by the chief judge
Youth Cs are not permitted to receive a cash prize, and will therefore receive a gift award arranged by the organisers
security
The event will be another high profile race event, and with favourable weather should see a multi thousand crowd watching you race.
As you will see we will have a professional security team employed during the event, plus measures to protect the event from outside, unwanted, influences.

In many events, riders have left bags close to the start finish line whilst they may have entered the race over barriers etc.
​
This may well have been completely innocent, however with recent events across the UK, we ask that you do not do this, if you do not need items during the race, it should be left securely in your car, or with people you know and trust.
​
A stray bag, or box may end the event. Please be mindful.
​
Access to the circuit will only be allowed via Lord Roberts Road with no need to go anywhere else prior to racing.

Complaints
If for any reason you have a complaint to lodge, these will only be reviewed after the event.
All complaints must be made in writing and accompanied by a cheque for £500 made payable to ‘Generation Pro Cycling Events’ and sent to the organiser requesting the address from generationprocyclingevents@gmail.com
